HowardHansen
Programmer, web developer, dad. I live in the Greenlake neighborhood of Seattle.
I came to Python through Zope: http://zope.org. I was working at a company trying to specialize in content management systems. I was frustrated with the idea of spending six-figures for a software license when a pretty impressive system was free.
Zope is written in Python, so I started looking at that. I spent about a week studying Python in my spare time and found myself being more productive than I had been in my previous language of choice: Visual Basic.
I've written a Zope log watching utility in python: http://zope.org/Members/howardhansen/logwatch
I'm interested in a SeattleZopeUserGroup.
I've just starting feeling comfortable in Linux.
Work
After dot-bombing in Feb 2001, I decided I would follow my bliss and try to find a job using Zope and Python. I succeeded! I've built a website framework in Zope for (currently) nine state biotechnology industry associations. The showcase site is for the state of Washington: http://www.wabio.com.
